The taste and foam of coffee
Colombia Excelso Narino coffee is truly exceptional. Its body could be described as medium and well-balanced, and its flavour has hints of chocolate, sugar cane, caramel and slight tangerine undertones.
The origins of coffee

Now imagine the high mountains rising almost out of the Pacific Ocean. Imagine a warm, humid climate, which, as it rises higher, gives way to a cold climate with frequent rainfall. Imagine wild nature. Now you know what the Narino region in the west of Colombia looks like. It is in these conditions that small farmers tend their coffee bushes. Small farmers have a tough job, as they have to climb hillsides to reach their plantations. The red, cherry-like fruits of the coffee are harvested by hand, in stages. The first coffee bushes were planted in Colombia in the early 19th century. The spread of the bushes is due to the Reverend Francisco Romero. It is said that in the town of Salazar de la Palmas, in order to absolve the guilty of their sins, they had to start farming and growing coffee. In the middle of the 19th century, Colombian landowners decided to take advantage of the new opportunities and, in view of the growing demand for tobacco and quinine, refrained from growing coffee plants. It was only after 1875 that the number of small coffee growers began to increase. This was greatly facilitated by the National Association of Cafeteros de Colombia, an organisation of local farmers and smallholders in 1905-1935. It enabled them to face logistical and commercial difficulties, to differentiate their products, and to promote (and still promotes) better harvest quality. Today, coffee is grown in every mountain range in Colombia, providing a livelihood for more than half a million local families. In 1958, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia sent Juan Valdez to "fight" for Colombian coffee. This fictional Colombian farmer has made a point of highlighting the quality of 100% Colombian coffee in numerous advertisements. The name Juan Valdez was adopted by many coffee traders, and today his name can be found not only in Colombia, but also in Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Kuwait, the USA and Spain. Colombia Excelso Narino is a special coffee, mainly due to the geographical facilitation of this region of Colombia - Narino territory. This area is very rough and mountainous, which is very good for growing coffee. The coffee plantations are owned by small farmers who ensure the high quality of the coffee.
