The taste and foam of coffee
Guatemalan SHB BIO coffee will delight both coffee lovers and those who are just looking for their favourite. Its taste is harmonious and pleasantly sweet. It recognizes milk chocolate, caramel and green apple. Some may notice the peanuts. This coffee is excellent in an aeropress or frenchpress, it unfolds fully when brewed in a lever coffee maker.
Origin of coffee

Although coffee has only been grown in Guatemala since the mid-20th century, it's one of the best we can afford. This Central American country has excellent conditions for growing coffee trees. Temperatures range between 16 and 32°C and coffee plantations are located at altitudes of 500-5000 metres above sea level. At around 1 500 metres, farmers have to plant coffee bushes to protect them from the cold northern winds. The long and slow ripening of the coffee berries and the unique soil composition give excellent results. The taste of coffee grown in the mountains is very interesting. Guatemala's Mataquescuintla region began to focus on coffee production in the 1980s. Coffee trees are grown almost exclusively by small farmers, and almost all mountain farms produce coffee to a greater or lesser extent. The area is rainy and the soil is volcanic. The balance of minerals is reflected in the high quality of coffee production. Coffee is harvested by hand from October to March in the Mataquescuintla region. The fruits, red berries reminiscent of cherries, are then sorted and processed. For this, farmers use the so-called wet process. The berries are poured into water and then pressed through crushing plates. This is how the skin and flesh are removed from the beans. They are then poured into so-called fermentation tanks. After a few days of steeping to dissolve the fruit residue, the green beans are finally dried. If the weather cooperates, they can be left in direct sunlight. The farms operate in an organic way, which means that they grow, harvest, process and package the coffee in an environmentally friendly way. They do not use industrial fertilizers or sprayers. What do you need to know about Guatemala? That you'll find lakes, volcanoes, jungles, Mayan temples and beaches. And that its farmers grow some of the greatest coffee in Central America. Experts refer to it as a delicacy and are melted by its balanced flavour and mild acidity. The combination of pleasant sweetness and chocolate, caramel and green apple is sure to enchant you too.
