Origin of coffee

Panama's Geisha Esmeralda could not have grown anywhere else but in a place called Hacienda La Esmeralda. The family farm in the Boquete Mountains in the southwestern mountains of Panama is one of the most popular. The man behind its success is Daniel Peterson, who has rediscovered a rare breed of coffee and the unique natural conditions in which some very special coffee shrubs are grown.
The Jaramillo region is characterised by fertile volcanic soil, a microclimate of low temperatures and high humidity, originating from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Hacienda La Esmeralda farm grows coffee on 50 hectares of sloping land. It is owned by the Peterson family. The farm was founded by Rudolf Peterson and is currently managed by his grandson Daniel.
The Petersons have been cattle breeders and coffee growers since 1967.In 1996, they purchased 50 hectares in Jaramilloa to grow the coffee in question. Daniel Peterson was born in 1974 and after completing his studies in the United States, he took over the responsibility of coffee growing in the family business. He was able to produce coffee with a floral aroma, fresh acidity and a silky finish, winning one competition after another. The farm was in the habit of blending and processing all the coffee beans after harvest. In 2002, however, Daniel discovered that about 3 percent of the coffee fruit on his plantation had an extraordinary taste and unique aroma. He selected coffee bushes of the Geisha variety and proved to have made the best possible decision. "The coffee world is lucky that a small coffee farm in Jaramille ended up in the hands of the Peterson family," said Collaborative Coffee Source.
How the original Ethiopian version of the Geisha ended up in Central and South America remains a mystery to this day. It is an unusually large coffee bean with a shallow root system and special moisture and UV requirements with relatively few coffee cherries. Cultivation and harvesting are therefore very demanding. However, they are worth looking out for. Geisha's taste is perfect.
All of the coffees from Hacienda La Esmeralda farm are certified by the Rainforest Alliance, which confirms the coffee's utmost care and commitment to the sustainable business vision of a socially and environmentally friendly enterprise. It has earned the title of Best of Panama, has perfect provenance and has many admirers. Don't miss the Geisha from Hacienda La Esmeralda. It belongs to the super premium coffee for which there is a huge demand worldwide.
