Crema and the taste of coffee
Robusta Tanzania Bukoba BIO coffee beans are unexpectedly soft and attractive. Its flavour is easy to find with hints of chocolate, hazelnuts and honey, and it finishes with a creamy, lingering aftertaste. The acidity is almost completely absent. This is an excellent coffee for espresso, but it also performs beautifully in a filter or aeropress.
Origin of coffee

Coffee accounts for a significant part of Tanzania's economy as it is its main export crop. The country exports about 40 000 tonnes of coffee annually, of which about 70 percent is Arabica and 30 percent Robusta. Most of Tanzania's Robusta comes from the Bukoba area, which is located in the Kagera region. This is exactly where we brought Robust Tanzania Bukob BIO from.
The coffee trees probably came to Tanzania in the 16th century, directly from Ethiopia. According to records, Kagera was the only one who used coffee beans. They were boiled, stewed and chewed with various herbs by the local Haya tribe. It was a highly valued stimulant, as evidenced by the fact that coffee became a currency and could only be grown under the supervision of the chiefs.
Kagera is located near the equator, in the northwest corner of Tanzania, on the western shore of Lake Victoria. The capital of the region is Bukoba. In terms of nature, the province abounds in truly wild corners, rich in fauna and flora. The Bukoba highlands provide excellent climatic and soil conditions for growing bananas, maize, fruit trees and, of course, coffee trees. Most farmers grow several crops at the same time, planting coffee trees in the shade of other crops, providing them with moisture and nutrients from the organic matter that falls down.
Robusta Tanzania Bukoba BIO was produced by farmers belonging to Kaderes Peasants, an organisation founded in 2008. This provides them with fair purchasing conditions and ensures, for example, education and health care in the area. Thanks to the cooperative, local farmers can dedicate themselves to growing more demanding but nature-friendly coffee trees in an organic farming context. Their harvests are Fair Trade certified and BIO branded.
The fruit of the coffee trees is processed by washing and drying in direct sunlight. To avoid contamination of the beans, workers spread the green coffee on clean tarpaulins spread on the ground. Frequent raking of the coffee prevents mould growth and achieves excellent bean moisture. The coffee is carefully sorted before being packed in 60 kg bags.

Taste and aroma
More gently roasted coffee offers a richer and more complex flavour profile. It better preserves the original nuances of the coffee-growing area, including fruity, floral or nutty notes.

Health benefits
In particular, quality coffee roasted to an ideal profile may contain higher levels of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and other phenolic compounds. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unroasted premium coffee is also gentler on the stomach, as it contains fewer acids that can cause irritation.

Environmentally friendly
Plantation coffee is often grown with a greater respect for nature, with an emphasis on responsible farming and fair trade, which can have a positive impact on cultivation and communities.

Instructions for use
Grind the coffee according to its type.Use at least 1.5-2 teaspoons (about 7 g) of ground coffee per cup.Pour the coffee into water at about 95 °C.
